The Lull Lamp

Lull is designed by Varmo, Kollstad and Buene. Lull has flower shape. When it is closed, it has a calm and soothing appearance. When it is open,  it's energetic and bright. There is a small motor that controls the motion of the petals. The lamp has a time-adjustable dimmer. It helps you when you are supposed to sleep and awake. It is said that, the lamp is designed to those who have sleeping problems [Dr.Staalle].

How does it works?

When sunrise, it will open slowly and carefully and dims up to give a powerful morning light. In the evening or at night, it will act opposite. It will close slowly and the light will dims down. When it it switched off, the user will experience gradually dim compare to the normal lamp that gets abrupt dark after is switched off.

"Hanabi Lamp"

Besides that, there is also one invention which is similar to this called 'Hanabi Lamp' which is invented by Oki Sato (Japanese designer).

Description: The heat of the bulb makes this shape-memory alloy lamp "bloom" whenever the light is turned on. "hanabi", the Japanese word for "fireworks", literally means "flower + fire." Both flowers and fire fade away so quickly and easily. Like its namesake, this light flickers between beauty and disappearance. Written by: Nendo
