Microsoft Kinect Hacked to Play Warcraft

To all warcrafts gamers, instead of using a thumb controller to move your heroes or characters around the map, now you can run in place and use arm gestures to play warcraft on big screen using Microsoft Kinect's hacked. USC researchers Institute for Creative Technologies have hack Microsoft's Kinect motion controller to play warcraft. The hack is known as Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit (FAAST), which is a middleware to facilitate integration of full-body control with games and VR applications. FAAST supports PrimeSensor and Microsoft Kinect is using OpenNI framework. You can download FAAST here: Microsoft Kinect Hack .Now, besides sitting on your chair together with the keyboard, laptop, and a mouse to play warcraft or computer games, you can play warcraft and computer games with a Kinect motion-sensor camera by translating body movement into the inputs. While having fun playing games, at the same time you are actually doing exercise.

Video from youtube (by Evan A. Suma, Belinda Lange, Skip Rizzo, David Krum, and Mark Bolas) : This video shows how FAAST is used to control off-the-shelf video games such as World of Warcraft and be configured to work with different games. These games did not normally support motion sensing device but FAAST will emulates keyboard input which is triggered by body posture and specific gestures from users.
